Guess the Breed
« on: February 28, 2017, 09:08:36 PM »
Reilly is a rescue puppy and potential service dog candidate.  Though he has proven to be incredibly bright and a quick and eager learner, I realize that he may or may not reach that goal in the long run.  As of right now, he attends two puppy classes a week.  A commonly asked question is, "what breed is he?"  And, honestly, neither his veterinarian, the shelter, or myself can identify his combination.

The shelter had him listed as a Catahoula Leopard mix.  My vet says she's positive he's not that.  She thinks he's a terrier mixed with a breed that can be brindle (possibly Greyhound or Irish wolfhound, though he's certainly not going to be anywhere near that large).  He is twelve weeks old and a bit over 18 pounds.  He's got a lean build, and, as of the last few days, his ears are starting to change from the photos below.  They are both winged out to the side like he's about to take flight, but occasionally stand straight up.

The photos below were taken last week.  So, to all those willing to take the challenge, what in the world is Reilly?

A scruffy mutt. I'd highly doubt he's a purebred to purebred cross. He is however totally adorable. The scruffy mutt variety is my favorite. I'm quite partial.

Definitely see some kind of terrier in there.  Not sure what else though.

I second the "mix of a mix of a mix" theory. He's a cutie patootie though. The more time I spend looking at Mochi and Jubilee the more appealing I find scruffmeisters

He's a Texan Himalayan.

A Russian Bear dog is a good possibility too.

The only thing you know about him is that he's good at "Russian in and bearing down on a biscuit".
