Every dog owner should have this book...
« on: March 26, 2011, 04:43:47 PM »
As I would like to get Maigee to pass her CGC really soon here (she is pretty much fine on everything except working around other dogs), and I bought the AKC's training book called "Citizen Canine."  It is an amazing book, very easy to understand, includes tips and hints on how to accomplish things.  I have only read the first two chapters.  The first was about socializing your puppy/dog, with ideas of places to go, people to meet, things to do, etc.  The second chapter (I'm only half done) is about teaching the dog to sit, and they use both the lure and physical prompting.  I can see how this book would be hugely beneficial to anyone with a dog, but especially someone who is starting out with a puppy that they would like to be a SD candidate.  At least what I have read so far has been wonderful.
