Looks like that's the cheapest it comes.  I usually use bigwords.com to look for books, because they compare across a ton of sites.  They didn't pop up anything cheaper.

Both Borders and Books-a-Million have it listed on their websites - it's not a guarantee that they have it, but it's worth it to try ordering it.

I bought that book a year or two ago for $12 on Amazon. Went to sell it 6 months later and got $94 for it. Apparently, it was out of print. There's rumor there will be a new edition (comparable to the $12 price the old one used to be).

Hmmmmm...I may wait it out a bit more and see, then. Both Borders and Booksamillion say it ships in 2-4 weeks, but who knows.

it's out of print, but look what I found last night http://marthahoffman.info/blogs/blog6.php "My book, "Lend Me An Ear", will be reprinted in a few months, and also as an ebook. Please do not order from my web site; those copies are sold."

For what it's worth, the book is lauded as being very, very good, but I found it very dry and difficult to get through. A lot of it focuses on choosing the right candidate for hearing work and the history of such dogs. I honestly didn't even read the whole thing.

the candidate selection is usually why it is considered such a great book, very few other books discuss selection on such an in-depth level.
