DENVER -- Service dogs can see for the blind, alert for seizures, even sniff out food that can be deadly to people with allergies. ...

"But many of her customers claim her high priced service dogs  areproperly trained and cannot be trusted to save lives."

Umm shouldn't that be aren't? Yes I just spent the day at college!

Hopefully she will go out of business and have to return the money!

True!

What is sad is that I usually misread things-often reads the same thing multiple times to understand...so I was surprised to catch it.

Well, by cracky! Paths unexectedly cross again!

Gunner's family contacted me to help draft a SD policy with their school district in Aug. And another family I believe has one of these dogs from Colorado Springs.... the dog Tinkerbell that has appeared in Omaha World Herald articles, they had me draft a master plan for emergencies at school. Hmmmmmmm.

Charlotans everywhere these days in the SD biz! Laws aren't going to be too far away regulating the industry.

I remember that trainer being so vile and defensive in her comments to posts some of SDC members made in the newspaper about her peanut sniffing dogs. This was a year or 2 ago. (I think!)

If you just google her business name, you will find several facebook pages where people are posting their complaints and a few of her more zealous "Oh, my dog is perfect" people are claiming all failures are due to the new owners not following through (for those who bought puppies and were to be doing owner-assisted by program training) or not following instructions (those who bought trained dogs); they refuse to accept the idea that the program is a dud or (the new kicker) she mis-appropriated funds for some sort of convention she was putting on at/near one of the Disney facilities.
My relationship with my SD is like a marriage.  In fact, my two-legged husband calls Scooter "the other man".

I thought Tina Rivero owned Angel Service Dogs in Monument CO. Does she have 2 businesses training and placing SD's under 2 names Noelles Dogs Four Hope in Colorado Springs?

I got a snotty and snappy email from Gunner's family today and talked to another parent. They are standing by Tina and are saying that the reports are false and retalliation because people didn't pay for the dogs & the training and therefore didn't get trained dogs.

Watching Heaven Scent and BethEden both go down for similar concerns (dogs that are supposed to alert - but don't) I am very sceptical of sniffer dogs at home that are supposed to be the miracle ... for a $7000 + price tag!

Noelle’s Dogs Four Hope is what is mentioned in the news . It says they are in Colorado Springs?  I cant find out of they are based in Monument .But they also call themselves Noelle's angel dogs on that same site  ..

Then on another site supposedly based in Monument is Angel Service Dogs, Inc., a 501-C-3.
I cant find out who owns that one from that site. Seems to be mostly people who got dogs from them and still support it.
quite interesting .

So is it one program under two names or one program with an older website still up?  :paw:

From what I am reading sounds similar to  the recent program that got nailed in missouri.
Wouldn't it be hard to train a dog to detect peanuts when you cant come in contact or have them around your child while you are trying to owner train the pup?

Very interesting. Tonia is the mother of Rebekah and has Tinkerbell north of Omaha in Valley or around there. She says Tink is working fine. Her 7 yr old could not control the Golden because it pulled too much, and consulted with me on what to do. I suggested retraining the dog's obedience and use a prong collar. She got the collar and her daughter uses that.

Jamie is the mother of a boy in NV who had now have (again) the dog named Gunner. He apparently was sent back to Tina(according to her email to me today) because he needed to be taught a new command as he was not working out during the long day at school. The new command was supposed to help the dog tolerate all day/every day in a class room. Her so is in Kindergarten or 1st grade, I believe.

I just looked at the Angel Service Dogs. I can not find any names of owners or trainers in the website or their location.

Sherry Mers has been so inspired by what Rock'O has done for her daughter that she started the group Angel Service Dogs.

Where does Tina Rivero come into play?

Quote
"Training a peanut allergy dog to sniff out peanuts is much like training a dog to do narcotics or bomb sniffing," said Tina Rivero, head trainer of Angel Service Dogs in Monument.

Quote
Together with her mother and father, Tina and Dave, she has founded Noelle’s Angel Dogs, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing service dogs, at an affordable cost, to people with seizure disorders and other disabilities.
From Noelle's Dogs Four Hope website.

The girl received her dog on Sunday after he underwent six months of training.

6 months training produces a reliable scent dog? So the dog was not trained by Angel Dog - just the training was brokered out!

The mor I am looking into this, the more suspicious I am of this whole deal.

I get it now.
Quote
no one in the Rivero family had any dog training experience. “She needed some privacy and independence,” Tina says. “The only way that was going to happen was if her dad and I learned how to train a dog. There was no other choice.” They immediately signed up for training classes to learn how to train a service dog. Within two years, Noelle had Scarlet, a Golden Retriever, trained to go to school with her, carry  medications, protect her in the event of seizure, and to get help.
