Bryndal was PTS this morning
« on: December 19, 2006, 11:11:23 AM »
She was the first cat that entered my life.  She was an outside cat that we adopted at my old house over 15 years ago.  She was adult, so, no way to know for sure how old she was.  She was deaf at the time we adopted her.  At the vet this morning, she weighed 5.3 pounds.  When she was healthy, she was around 10 pounds.  She's been on nutra-cal, kitten milk, and a high protien cat food to help her gain weight, none worked.  For the past few years, she's not left my parents bedroom on her own.  When we've taken her out, she runs back in there.  The other cats, in the past few weeks, have started attacking her.  More than once, she has been hiding underneath the toliet, to escape the other cats.

My parents room started smelling like urine a few weeks ago.  Mom thought it was just the cat box (which was in there for brynbryn), but, sunday, when mom went to pill Bryndal, she found her laying in her urine on the bed.  With everything going on, the vet said we could run tests, but, said the few things that could be wrogn with her weren't that good.  She agreed to put her to sleep when we said it was time.  We felt it just wasn't worth putting her through all that stress and testing, just to add a few years more, esp if the other cats were going to attack her.  She never played anymore.  It was just time.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.  It's hard to make the decision to send them over the bridge, but it is also the ultimate act of love.

My first cat was about 17 when I took her to the vet to be PTS. It was a very hard thing to do but something we must do for them. I'll be thinking of you and your family tonight.

I think this is one of the hardest things we have to do in life, loving them enough & knowing when to let go. Be at peace, sweet Bryndal.
