Internet Privacy Policy
Effective June 30, 2012

At Service Dog Central, we respect the privacy of our web site visitors. We do use information you provide to better serve you. We recognize that this information belongs to you and that we must treat it accordingly. The following statement spells out our privacy policy in more detail. The policy applies to www.servicedogcentral.org. If there are material changes to this policy in the future, information concerning any such change will be posted on this webpage.

Our Use of Personal and Non-Personal Information
We collect both personal and non-personal information from our on-line visitors. Visitors are not required to register to access the public pages of Service Dog Central, but must register in order to post in the forum or to view additional, member-only, forum boards.

Non-personal information we collect
When you access the Service Dog Central site, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website. These server logs may include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, browser language, and the date and time of your request.

This information is collected to track the total number of guests visiting Service Dog Central and to guide our efforts to improve our site. This information is used exclusively for our internal purposes and is not disclosed to any non-affiliated third parties.

Your IP address can also reveal information about your location and connection. This information is available to any site you visit anywhere on the internet. We will rarely check the country location of an IP address in the event a registration applicant for the forum is suspected of being a spammer.

This is what your IP address says about you (note: only you can see this--each person sees their own personal IP information and no one else's):

Personal information you provide
When you register for an account, we ask you for personal information (such as your nickname, email address and an account password). Personal information acquired through registration is kept confidential and will not be disclosed to third parties except as may be required by law. When you use our contact page we ask for a name and email address so that we may respond to your inquiry or request. When you send email or other communications to Service Dog Central, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve our services.

Children
When a child under age 13 attempts to register with Service Dog Central, we ask the child to have a parent or guardian contact administrators to give parental permission.

Service Dog Central does not ask a child under age 13, or anyone else, for more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in a given activity (such as a nickname, email address, and password).

In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us.

Our Use Of “Cookies”
Service Dog Central may place an electronic "cookie" in the browser files of a guest's computer. A cookie is a small file containing a string of characters. They are pieces of information that a web site transfers to an individual’s computer hard drive for record-keeping purposes. Cookies themselves do not enable us to access any personal information about our visitors. We send a "session cookie" to your computer (named "SDC Cookie") when you log in to your account. This type of cookie helps us to recognize you if you visit multiple pages on our site during the same session, so that we don’t need to ask you for your password on each page. Our session cookie is the only cookie Service Dog Central puts on visitor's computers. Service Dog Central does not use cookies to retrieve information from a visitor’s computer that was not originally sent to that visitor's computer in a cookie.

Confidentiality
We limit access to personal information about you to employees and volunteer staff who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide services to you. However, we are not responsible for any personal information you may voluntarily post on the forum.
